Amazing facts

  • £18.5m will be spent on top rate sports facilities, to be in place by 2010 — in time for the prestigious 2012 London Olympics — these facilities will also be available for use by the surrounding community, as well as University students and staff.
  • Health professionals working within hospital trusts governed by the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Strategic Health Authority who want to upgrade their qualifications to degree or masters level can benefit financially by having their module fees paid. Contract in place to fund 900 module registrations during academic year 2005/2006.
  • In the coming months, £16,000 from the General Social Care Council will pay for a hi-tech social work studio, to help students get hands-on experience of interviewing in delicate situations.
